Fear of Inadequacy – We All Deal With It

November 28, 2007

Fear of inadequacy is a constant theme that clients come to coaching sessions to talk about.

Bob’s wanted to talk about his goal to earn $100,000 in 2008. He began by telling me, “I’m not sure I can do it, I’ve never done it before, I’d better have a great plan.”

As we talked about Bob’s plan to accomplish his goal, I suggested that his plan would only be the tip of the iceberg.

Adding to Bob’s plan would be an intention to remove the fear of inadequacy which is most likely going to block his chances for success. In fact if Bob makes his intention the #1 item in his plan for 2008, he is almost guaranteed success.

How we think about what we think determines what actions we take. What Bob is thinking about is his goal for $100,000 in income in 2008, how he is thinking about that goal is from the perspective of not being able to accomplish it.

How we think about our goals and dreams affects our success more than what the goals actually are.

You’ve got us listening, Judy – and heck, yes, we’d like to make piles of money, so you’ve got us listening that way, too.

Mostly, we listen to Judy not only because she has good ideas, but also because she is in touch with the universe of possibilities.

Good luck on your blogging journey, Judy.

“He began by telling me, “I’m not sure I can do it, I’ve never done it before ..”

This so true, Judy. There was a period of time I couldn’t refrain from mentioning my diminished income and my “can’t afford it” thinking kept me from the riches I wanted to enjoy. When I stopped doing that, I started earning more! And I began to have more fun serving my clients.

As your message imparts, we are what we think!

Love your new blogsite. I hope it brings you much success in 2008.
